Pote Slipper Drive Project - Las Vegas WON Rotary Club
In 2016, Las Vegas WON Rotary Club Member and then current District Governor had an idea to help service people not only in Nevada but California as well.
His objective was to secure 3,000 pairs of brand-new bedroom slippers and figure out the best way to distribute them to the men and women in various Army, Air Force and Marine facilities. The members of the Fernley Rotary Club had obtained a large quantity of brand new slippers. Pote developed a plan.
District Governor Pote, by himself flew to Reno, Nevada where he rented a truck and proceeded to Fernley, Nevada. Upon arriving at Fernley, Pote picked up 3,000 pairs of slippers with the help of the Fernley Rotary Club members and headed hundreds of miles south to Las Vegas. Upon arrival in Las Vegas, with the help of fellow Las Vegas WON Rotary Club Member, Susan Sullivan, they arranged to drop of 100’s of pairs of the slippers to Nellis Air Force Base personnel.

Not stopping there, Pote got back into the rental truck, which he paid for himself, and drove several hundred more miles dropping of pairs of slippers at the Army Base in Barstow, the Air Force Base in Ontario, California, and Camp Pendleton in San Diego area.
With the help from Past District Governor Larry Sundram and his wife Linda, they assisted in distribution to the California locations.
This is just another example of a Las Vegas WON Rotary Club member going above and beyond the call to assist those in need.
There is nothing better than a District Governor getting the job done. It is great to show the drive / determination to help others which DG Randy Pote displayed in this project and his daily life.
